carpetting mad

bored to tears though i really ought to be mugging.

a couple of days ago, i obtained a roll of carpetlike material and decided to diy carpet the back of fiona.

this morning seemed as good a day as any. so i walked down to my mscp, drove up to a deserted level, removed everything from the back and got down to making myself handy.

i started by cutting out the front portion (i.e. the part in front of the sofa). ok. no pic of me cutting since i cant take a photo and cut at the same time. duh.

the problematic part was nearer the wheel-well. it doesnt look well cut but that's more because the wheelwell area is not flat but sloping up.

then it was the back, which was slightly easier to fit but had alot harder to cut thanks to all the curves. i neatened the edges then, it was in with the sofa. all done!

the front part with sofa in.

another shot of the front part

the back with all my stuff in place.

one last shot of the final outcome.

light me up in led

it had been a tough struggle, controlling the itch.

so after my clt paper last friday, i drove down to meet maverick to finally get fiona a new set of interior lighting!

we drove down to sunshine plaza, to get the lights. while waiting for parking we were pleasantly surprised by a nice malay dude driving a vintage beetle who passed us his parking coupons which were not fully used up before driving off. saved me a buck!

we went into the store and got two 90cm led strips for the rear. the plan for the cockpit lights was to use one 18 led board for each side. unfortunately, they only had one left, so we shelved the plan for after my exams.

after that it was back to maverick's place to pick up his tools and meet his menagerie of dogs. some interruptions in between (maverick had to submit his project) and we were in a mscp near clementi, fixing up the lights!

it was a chop chop job. kudos to maverick for his expertise. i did nothing, he did all the installation. so from a diy it became a gftd (get friend to do). and the end result?

a day-time view.

a semi-lit view. why oh why is my mscp so brightly lit?

anyways, i will endeavour to get a nice pic of it in dim light asap. it really looks damn chio at night - maverick and his gf will attest to it!

what makes it all worth it

one day every week, i will carry pails and stools down to the mscp to give fiona a wash.

washing any vehicle is no joke, especially when one does not have access to a hose. the whole process, from dusting out the floormats to the finishing seal, took me a good 2.5 - 3 hrs today. but what makes it worth it is this:

yes, the lighting in this photo is terrible, but check out the roof of the mscp reflected on the bonnet!

another one. just for fun!
